Aromatherapy
When you bring Aromatherapy and essential oils
into your life, the long term health benefits are uncountable. With
the regular use of essential oils you will be boosting your immune
system and will be less susceptible to the cold and flu virus. On
the physical side, with a reduction of stress levels, you will have
less muscular tension and aches and pains, and your skin will be
cleaner and healthier. On the emotional level you will feel balanced
and in harmony with yourself.
As the fragrant molecules of essential oils drift
up our noses, they are registered in the part of the brain where
emotions and memories are stored and formed, causing us to feel
immediately relaxed or alert, or stimulating a memory from our childhood
or the past, depending on the blend of oils chosen.
How
does aromatherapy work?
The essential oils travel via the blood and lymph
systems around the body, carrying waste products and toxins with
them and thereby improving cell oxygenation and regulating the function
of all organs.
How to use essential
oils?
Vaporization
Lightens and brightens a room
Purifies the air against infectious bacteria
Insect repellent
Fill your burner with warm water and add 4-8 drops
of essential oil
Bath
The bath is a perfect place to enjoy the sensual pleasures of Aromatherapy
oils.
Relieves muscular aches and pains
Assists restful sleep
Aids skin problems
For sheer pleasure!
Run the bath first, then after turning the taps
off add 5-8 drops of essential oil
Ensure you agitate the water to disperse the oils before entering
the bath
Recommended bath time blends:
For passion: ylang-ylang, geranium & sandalwood
For detoxifying: ginger, rosemary & juniper berry
Inhalation:
Relieve symptoms of cold, flu, sinusitis, coughs, and other respiratory
complaints
In a bowl, of near boiling water add 2-5 drops
of essential oil
Drape a towel over your head and bowl to trap the aromatic steam
Inhale the vapors for between 5-10 minutes
This can be done 2-3 times per day if needed
Caution: steam inhalations should be avoided if a person suffers
from asthma
Massage:
Safest, quickest and most effective way to receive the healing properties
of essential oils
For babies and children 0-5yrs use 1% solution
i.e. 2 drops of essential oil into 10ml carrier oil
Children & adults above 5 yrs use 2,5% solution i.e. 5 drops
of essential oil into 10ml carrier oil
Aromatherapy is a complementary therapy and should
never be replaced by any medical treatment.
