Michelle was born in Hong Kong and studied Traditional Chinese Medicine in the School of Chinese Medicine at Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).
After obtaining her Bachelor Degree she pursued further postgraduate study at the Faculty of Medicine of the CUHK. She has graduated from PhD study and her thesis is focused on acne vulgaris. Her research interests are dermatological (skin) diseases and family medicine related problems. She has been publishing papers at prestigious peer-reviewed journals, including two original articles in the official publication of the British Association of Dermatology. She has also been presenting at international academic conferences, and her research findings have been reported by local media. A book regarding the knowledge and management of acne was jointly written and published by her and a western medicine doctor. Michelle is also the Visiting Consultant of The Centre for Health Education and Health Promotion, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
